About Us

Laurie, Sarah and Elliot

We are a mother-daughter team, both growing up and living in Huntington our whole lives. We love the area, and are so thrilled to have opened our dream business here and be able to service our community.

At PawSessions, people can bring their dogs for group or private training lessons. We understand that each and every dog is as different as is their owner’s needs and preferences. We started our business because of our love of dogs, and it is exactly that which keeps us in the business. From puppies who need to learn their basics, to dogs with mild to severe aggression, leash reactivity, and timid or shy dogs, we work with you on building your dog’s confidence and independence which is extremely important for all dogs (and people)! We do our absolute best to cater to the needs of each dog and person, and pride ourselves on our success with problem cases along with basic training needs. We also offer CGC, CGCA and CGCU (Public Access) training for Therapy and Service Dogs and are certified for AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluations.

We offer Training Sessions and Social Play. We are here to help you have a well-balanced relationship with your canine best friend by teaching them basic good behavior as well as social skills with humans and other canines alike. Most importantly… we make it FUN!

‘Our mission at PawSessions Dog Training, Socialization and Event Center is simple. We want to teach humans to learn to communicate clearly with their canine companions so they can teach them to be good members of canine society and learn to behave in all social settings.’

Our 1,200+ square foot park-like social area boasts the most sanitary and absolutely beautiful antimicrobial K9 dog grass with white picket fencing to keep our dogs contained but free to romp and play while humans can rest easy knowing that their pups are happy and exercised. If your dog does have social issues, no worries! Sign up for our Training Sessions and we will teach you to work with your dog to build the confidence they need to safely and enjoyably play nicely with others!

Our Team

Laurie has been training dogs all her adult life, starting with all of her many dogs over the years of course! She found that she really had that “thing” when it came to dog training and understanding how to communicate with our canine best friends.

Now with opening the business, she really concentrates on the dogs that have special needs, whether it be reactive/aggressive behavior, extreme timid/shyness, leash reactivity and training support dogs as in therapy and service animals. She is a Certified AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator.

With her extreme love of animals, she also rehabilitates orphaned squirrels in her spare time.

“It gives me so much joy to show owners how to clearly communicate with their dogs, and the pride the owners have as their dog starts to ‘get it’ makes my day! I am so happy and grateful for being able to love what I do every day.”

Being Laurie’s daughter, Sarah grew up in a home that animals of all kind were always a huge part of. Sarah has always loved dogs, and she quit her job in the finance world 5 years ago to take up dog walking and pet sitting as her sole profession. She was always intrigued by her mom’s ability and knack for training dogs, and once PawSessions became a reality, she quickly discovered that she had inherited her mom’s skill. Sarah takes pride in being able to pinpoint a dog’s (and owners) needs and come up with the right course of action for them, helping them to become their best selves!

“I am so grateful to have made a career doing something so rewarding that I love. Dog training has taught me patience and confidence, and I love being able to pass those traits onto dogs and their owners. I go to sleep with a smile on my face knowing I’ve helped so many dogs and people.”
